Cities of Houston, Galveston, Beaumont and surrounding towns were devastated. September 26, 2008 Washington, DC – The League of United Latin American Citizens has announced the launching of a LULAC national disaster relief fund to help communities devastated by Hurricane Ike. “We are requesting the LULAC membership and community to contribute to this fund,” said LULAC National President Rosa Rosales. “The need is greater than initially expected.” Nearly 8 million homes in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia were damaged by Ike from September 12 to September 19. President Rosales will present a LULAC check for $5,000
Friday at her office in San Antonio to encourage others to make donation.
