Resolution - A Call to the Governor of New Mexico

WHEREAS, education is key for the advancement of all individuals, particularly minorities, there Is a dire need to have all universities and colleges in the state of New Mexico be responsive to the Hispanic community and students of New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, universities need to be a model of good government that is transparent with democratic values and processes; and

WHEREAS, Hispanics are the majority group in New Mexico and our colleges and universities should reflect this reality and population in all aspects and sectors of the university to include students, university presidents and chancellors, administrators, faculty, staff, contractors and anyone and everyone associated with the college and universities in New Mexico such that they all truly become Hispanic Severing Institutions (HIS’s); and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY NEW MEXICO LULAC that all Board of Regents for every college and university in New Mexico be elected rather than appointed by the Governor of New Mexico.
