EQUAL RIGHTS FOR PUERTO RICANS

Whereas, the disenfranchised US citizens who reside in Puerto Rico continue to be subject to disparate and discriminatory treatment denying their equal rights under the law after 108 years under United States sovereignty.

Whereas, the nearly 4 million U.S. citizens who reside in Puerto Rico have never been afforded one of the most basic of human and civil rights…the right to self determination; and

Whereas, our fellow citizens who reside in Puerto Rico have every right, both under the United States Constitution and out laws, as well as under International Law to redress their grievances for their disfranchisement and lack of equal rights under the law.

be it resoved, that the League of United Latin American Citizens express their full-fledge support to the rightful and legitimate aspiration of their disfranchised fellow citizens who reside in Puerto Rico.

Let it be further resolved, that the League of United Latin American Citizens will join and support all initiatives, present and future, through which 4 million U.S. citizens who reside in Puerto Rio may redress their grievances for lack of equal rights under the law.
