PUERTO RICO RESPONDS TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY PLAN
 

Whereas, we the Americans living in Puerto Rico support President George W. Bush and will always back our Nation, especially on issues of National defense; and  

Whereas, the Puerto Rican members of LULAC, as American citizens are opposed to any form of terrorism on the mainland, and its territories to include Puerto Rico; and 

Whereas, the LULAC members of Puerto Rico do not want to lose the shared values, diversity and patriotism; as these are very important in maintaining a solid foundation and relationship with the United States; and 

Whereas, the isolated event in Vieques last May was an act geared at recognizing certain rights of the people of Vieques;  

NOW Therefore, Be It Resolved, that Puerto Ricans accept the shared responsibilities and value the benefit of being part of the National Security Plan, which guarantees liberty and justice for all.  God Bless America.   

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that LULAC take any and all appropriate action, including advocacy at the local, state and national levels; and 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should these efforts fail to provide a remedy for this national crisis, LULAC will pursue every legal avenue available to address the problem.
