Resolution
 

To End Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace by Amending Section 12940(J) of the California Government Code
 

Whereas, on the job harassment and discrimination against women and minorities continues to plague California workers; and

Whereas, specific reasonable steps to end employer discretionary practices of employee discrimination and harassment need to be outlined as an amendment to California Government Code; and

Whereas, the amendment reinforces California State Policy which addresses employee complaints of harassment and/or discrimination and provides remedy for relief; and

Whereas, AB 1617 failed to pass in the California legislature due to opposition from employers organizations;

Therefore, be it resolved that California LULAC supports the adoption of an amendment to California Government Code via the California LULAC Legislative Committee.
