Supporting the intervention of the Hale Center dispute before violence occurs
 

WHEREAS, the Hispanic Community of Hale Center, Hale County, in West Texas is going through a crises because young children from the 2nd to the 12th grade in the public schools are being singled out to clean bathrooms and subject to other disciplinary treatment that is reminiscent of the 19th century, that is not applied to other ethnic groups in the community; and 

WHEREAS, school officials do not support the Texas open meetings Law, and schedule board meetings without adequate notice and therefore depriving parents of the opportunity to present their grievances or to even know why disciplinary actions are being taken; and 

WHEREAS, parents and others have been threatened with arrest if they appear at a public meeting Monday night, July 12; 

NOW THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the national assembly of LULAC instructs the National Office to intervene in the Hale Center dispute before violence occurs and to assure that all students in Hale Center will have an appropriate environment in which to learn.
