
WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens serves to advance opportunities and elevate the social condition for Hispanic Americans; and
WHEREAS, the new census numbers and growth in the Hispanic market present opportunities for the growth and prosperity of Hispanic-owned publications; and
WHEREAS, non-Hispanic owned publications are catering to the Hispanic Community to profit from our population and economic growth; and
WHEREAS, Hispanic-owned publications have struggled to served our community and our organizations and to provide positive images of Hispanics in the media; and
WHEREAS, a level playing field is all we need to achieve our highest potential; and
WHEREAS, Hispanic-owned media are at a financial disadvantage in competing with main stream daily newspapers and publications backed by non-Hispanic wealth and therefore rob Hispanic-owned publications of opportunities and stifle economic development and empowerment in our Hispanic communities;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the League of United Latin American Citizens will serve to protect the interests of the Hispanic-owned media that serves our communities by encouraging Government and Corporate America to utilize Hispanic-owned media in their outreach efforts to the Hispanic community.
