
WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens, Council No. 1, and the National Delegation of LULAC in Phoenix, Arizona. LULAC is the oldest and most respected Civil Rights organization in the United States founded in 1929 in Corpus Christy, TX; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Joe Flores a member of Council No. 1 for forty seven years and past President. Mr. Flores founded and organized the Feria de las Flores in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1959; and
WHEREAS, the late Joe Flores had a vision to promote and educate our entire Community regarding our Hispanic Culture and Heritage; and
WHEREAS, LULAC council No. 1's scholarship, INC. has awarded over one million dollars in college scholarships to deserving South Texas students whose dream is to further their education.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the League of United Latin American Citizens and LULAC Council No. 1 will forever be grateful to Mr. Joe Flores for his commitment and determination in helping college bound students of our South Texas community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, LULAC Council No. 1 will continue to insure the ongoing fulfillment of his dream in providing educational opportunities for South Texas youth.
