Washington, DC – The League of United Latin American Citizens, LULAC, is pleased to be having actor and Latino activist Wilmer Valderrama at the National LULAC Youth Convention. The National LULAC Youth convention is a five day event which will take place during the LULAC National Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico this year.

“As an immigrant who came to this country in search of the American dream, and an opportunity to bring a more fruitful future to my family, I appreciate the efforts and work that LULAC continues to provide,” said Wilmer Valderrama. “It would be an honor to not only share my story of immigration and hope but as well to hear from those who have the same drive, passion and vision for who we are in this country.”

Wilmer Valderrama is best known for his role as Fez, on FOX’s television hit, “That 70’s Show”. As well as an entertainer, he is also an upcoming entrepreneur, having established his own production company, WV Enterprises.

His production company has a deal with fledging Relativity Real, the reality/alternative TV arm of Ryan Kavanaug’s Relativity Media. Valderrama is the creator-producer and host of the long running MTV show “Yo Momma.” His role is to create, develop and produce series for broadcast and cable networks.

His production company, WVE, is also working with MTV to develop the half-hour novela “Brooklyn Sound” which is set in a neglected neighborhood where teenagers use their talent and passion to achieve stardom. Valderrama and WVE’s Danny Villa will produce this project.

Valderrama, who also voices the title role of Manny Garcia in the Playhouse Disney animated series, “Handy Manny” has a number of ongoing projects, including a blind script commitment to produce a new show for the Disney Channel. Valderrama recently finished up “The Dry land,” which is the story of a young soldier (Ryan O'Nan) who returns to his small town after active duty alongside, Melissa Leo and Ugly Betty's America Ferrera. One of his projects “Days of Wrath” featuring Lawrenece Fishbourne, will also hit the big screen early next year.

Valderrama also has motivational speaking experience. He has worked diligently with the The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) to promote its Ready to Lead (R2L) college preparation program. Valderrama serves as an official spokesperson for R2L, appearing at workshops, in public service announcements (PSA), and other media campaigns to promote higher education for Latino youth.

The National Youth Convention is a product of LULAC and YUM! Brands, Inc. The Youth Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico will feature workshops and panel discussions, career opportunities, community service and leadership development for middle and high school students. YUM! Brands, Inc. will contribute to the Young Adults conference as well. Generous contributions from YUM! Brands incorporated will come in the form of food, program books, t-shirts, and more. Yum!
