Washington, DC – We are shocked and indeed horrified that this shooting has occurred. LULAC wants to extend our deepest and most sincere and profound sympathy to the families of these victims, which include students. Today our nation grieves for the lives lost.

LULAC will do all that it can to assist administrators at the Virginia Tech campus as they cope with this horrific tragedy. Students are urged to contact their family members as soon as possible to let them know individuals are safe. The Dean of Student Office will be on-hand to take any questions or concerns and can be reached at 540-231-3787.

Schools should be safe places of sanctuary and learning. We all feel violated as this impact affects all American classrooms and the community as a whole. People around the world have expressed sadness and disbelief that an incident of this magnitude could occur in our backyard.
