Washington, DC –The League of United Latin
								American Citizens strongly condemns
								discrimination and racial profiling and
encourages efforts in by some states to pass
bills aimed at ending racial profiling.

“We applaud the leadership efforts of state
								legislators who have introduced comprehensive
bills to prevent racial profiling like the one
passed recently in Rhode Island,” said LULAC
National President Rosa Rosales. “States should
not tolerate any kind of discrimination or
racial profiling that targets individuals based
on race, color or creed. LULAC applauds state
efforts in passing this type of legislation.”

LULAC supports a strong statutory definition of
racial profiling along with the institution of
data collection systems by law enforcement. We
are concerned with the growth of hate groups and
we encourage Congress to strongly monitor
agencies and their enforcement of hate-crimes
								laws.
LULAC opposes any effort to amend the US
Constitution in any manner that reduces the
protection of any individual’s rights on the
basis of national origin, race, religion, sexual
								orientation, age or disability.
The League of United Latin American Citizens,
the oldest and largest Hispanic membership
organization in the country, advances the
								economic conditions, educational attainment,
political influence, health and civil rights of
								Hispanic Americans through community-based
programs operating at more than 700 LULAC
								councils nationwide.
