Washington, DC – The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is encouraging voters to exercise their right to vote on Election Day today.

“One of the most important constitutional rights a person has in this country is to cast their vote at the ballot box,” said LULAC National President Rosa Rosales. “We live in a free society and government is only as good as the willingness of our people to participate. Yesterday we marched and today we vote.”

LULAC has been working alongside NHLI Coalition partners on the “It Starts With You” campaign. It Starts with You is a joint national, multimedia, and nonpartisan civic engagement and voter mobilization campaign urging Latinos to vote in the upcoming election on November 7, 2006. The National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA), a nonpartisan coalition of major Hispanic national organizations and distinguished Hispanic leaders from throughout the nation launched this campaign on September 29, 2006. It starts with you; do your part and vote, for your family, your community, and your country. And if you are unable to vote, ask your friends and family who are eligible to vote to do their part.

Let your voice be heard today. Get Out and Vote!

Remember to bring your:

• Voter Registration Card (if applicable)
• Government-issued photo ID (if applicable)
• Any friends or relatives who are eligible to vote.

If you do not know where your polling place is, or witness any questionable incidents call 1-888-839-8682 (1-888-Ve-Y-Vota).

The League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest and largest Latino membership organization in the country, advances the economic conditions, educational attainment, political influence, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 700 LULAC councils nationwide.
